Description
Universal Studios wanted to add a new parking structure near the park entrance. The location near the entrance would be convenient for visitors but tricky for excavating and exporting 225,000 cubic yards of soil that Sharma removed. In addition, Sharma backfilled the interior ramps and the perimeter of the new parking structure and worked around numerous other trades, footings and columns to place and grade a sand section throughout the building area.
Challenges
With Sharma’s work happening so close to the park entrance, it was imperative that the team do everything possible to avoid disturbing tourists coming and going. Both excavation work and trucking were completed with respect for park visitors.
